LEAVE YOUR MESSAGE TO PRESIDENT KIRCHNER The president Dr Néstor Kirchner promulgated the Law that declares Apri 24th “Action day for the tolerance and respect between peoples” in commemoration of the Genocide undergone by the Armenian people. The project, impelled by the Armenian National Committee of South America, was approved by the two National Congress Chambers – on November 29th, by the Honourable House of Representatives of the Nation, on December 13th, by the Honourable Senate of the Nation and promulgated by the National Executive authority on January 10th, 2007.
This law recognizes the genocide perpetrated by the Turkish State against the Armenian people in which more than 1.5 million Armenians were massacred between 1915 and 1923.
The Armenian community from Argentina wants to thank the Executive Assembly as well as the Legislative Assembly for their solidarity and commitment. Their committal adds to the world-wide efforts to achieve historical truth and justice against all the lese humanity crimes.
From 1985 onwards, both National Congress Chambers, through declaration and resolution projects, have recognized the Armenian genocide and have shown their solidarity towards the Armenian people. The legislative bodies of Buenos Aires-capital city, Cordoba, Jujuy and Buenos Aires province have likewise shown their commitment to this cause.
Today, the Argentine Republic, is added to the international recognitions through a national law.
In 1985 the Subcommittee for the Prevention of Discriminations and Protection towards Minorities of United Nations described the Armenian case as a genocide. Uruguay, the European Parliament, and those of Greece, Bulgaria, Belgium Russia, Italy, Lebanon, Sweden, Switzerland, Holland, Venezuela, Lituania, Canada, France made this recognition own, as well as the World-wide Council of Churches and the Permanent Court of the Peoples.
In this way, our country is positioned at an international level as an example of solidarity, respect to the diversity and as a society in search of the truth against all type of violation of the Human Rights.
